Authentication, Authorization & Accounting
Carrier-grade AAA server providing authentication, authorization, and accounting for network access across fixed and mobile networks.
Three Functions, One Platform
Every subscriber, every device, every service — authenticated, authorized, and accounted for in real time
Authentication
Verify subscriber identity across mobile, fixed, and WiFi networks. SIM-based, certificate, and password authentication with multi-factor support.
Authorization
Enforce service entitlements, QoS policies, and access rules. Grant or deny based on real-time subscriber profile and network conditions.
Accounting
Track every session with precise usage records. Feed billing systems, enable analytics, and support regulatory compliance.
The Subscriber Journey Through AAA
From network attach to session close — AAA governs every step

Network Attach
Device connects. AAA authenticates identity and retrieves subscriber profile from HSS.
Service Authorization
AAA enforces policy — which services, what QoS, how much bandwidth. All in real time.
Session Accounting
Every byte, every second tracked. Session records flow to billing and analytics in real time.
Dual-Protocol Support
RADIUS for broadband and enterprise, Diameter for 4G/5G mobile core — one platform

RADIUS
Broadband ISP, enterprise WiFi, VPN, MVNO access. The proven standard for fixed-line and enterprise authentication.
Diameter
4G/LTE EPC, IMS/VoLTE, roaming, and 5G interworking. The carrier-grade protocol for mobile core signaling.
Across Every Network
AAA is the common thread connecting all access technologies and subscriber types
Mobile Broadband
4G and 5G NSA subscriber authentication and policy enforcement via Diameter S6a/Gx
IMS & VoLTE
Voice-over-LTE registration and service authorization with seamless roaming support
Fixed Broadband
PPPoE and IPoE subscriber management with bandwidth policy and usage accounting
IoT & MVNO
Massive-scale device authentication with optimized signaling for millions of connections
Why AAA Matters
The gatekeeper of your network — get it right, and everything else works
Revenue Protection
Every unauthorized byte is lost revenue. AAA ensures only paying subscribers access services.
Subscriber Trust
Fast, invisible authentication. Subscribers connect instantly — no friction, no frustration.
Network Security
AAA is the first line of defense. Block unauthorized access before it reaches your core network.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between RADIUS and Diameter?
RADIUS is used primarily for fixed broadband, WiFi, and enterprise access with UDP transport. Diameter is the carrier-grade evolution — it uses TCP/SCTP for reliable transport, supports peer-to-peer architecture, and is the mandatory signaling protocol for 4G/LTE mobile core (S6a, Gx, Gy, Cx). Operators typically run both protocols on a single AAA platform.
Does AAA still matter in 5G?
Absolutely. While 5G Standalone uses HTTP/2 SBI, most 5G deployments today are Non-Standalone (NSA) — meaning 4G EPC with 5G NR radio. AAA with Diameter is essential for these networks. AAA also remains critical for fixed broadband, WiFi offload, IoT, and MVNO access in the 5G era.
Can one AAA platform handle all access types?
Yes. ZBensoft AAA supports RADIUS and Diameter on a single unified platform. It can simultaneously authenticate mobile subscribers via Diameter S6a, broadband subscribers via RADIUS, and enterprise WiFi users — all from one carrier-grade deployment.
